The Board of Supervisors have considered the adoption of the proposed revised Zoning Ordinance and Zoning District Map recently at public hearings. Click to see the hearing that took place on March 1, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. The Board of Supervisors voted to table the revised Ordinance and Map at this meeting.  Click to see the next hearing that took place on March 15, 2021 at 6:00p.m.  The Board of Supervisors voted to postpone a vote at this meeting.

 The proposed revised Zoning Ordinance and Zoning District Map will be discussed at the Supervisors meeting on June 7, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Summit Township Municipal Building located at 1230 Townhall Road West, Erie, PA  16509.  




To provide more clarification to the proposed updates, public work sessions have been scheduled.  Use the interactive map linked in green below, or use the printable maps links (below) to figure out what district you will be, then see the scheduled date and time for your zoning district work session.  This information will be on the front page of the newsletter that will be sent out soon.  We will also be sending out a second round of post cards to inform you of your session date and time.  The work sessions will be held at the Summit Township Municipal Building.

April 27 (Tuesday):  5:00 pm – Resources Rural, Resources Natural (RR, RN)

April 29 (Thursday):  5:00 pm – Residential Multi-Family, Residential Medium Density, Residential Low Density (RMF, RMD, RLD)

 May 4 (Tuesday):  1:00 pm – Mixed Use Regional (MUR)

 May 4 (Tuesday):  5:00 pm – Mixed Use Neighborhood (MUN)

May 6 (Thursday):   5:00 pm – Commercial Corridor (CC)

May 20 (Thursday):   5:00 pm – Commercial Local (CL)

May 20 (Thursday):  1:00 pm – Industrial and Industrial Park (I – IP)



We have created a map where you can see what your zoning district is and how your property will be affected by any of the proposed changes:

  • Type your address into the search bar on the top left.  Use the blue slider in the middle of the screen to go back an forth to see your current zoning color and your proposed future zoning
  • Click on your parcel
  • A dialogue box will pop up.  Click the white triangle at the top of the box to switch back and forth between Future_Land_Use (future) and Summit_Twp_Zoning (current).
  • Click “More Info” to see what your current permitted uses are and what the proposed permitted uses are.
