EXECUTIVE ORDER: Temporary Countywide Burn Ban for Open Fires

Due to heightened fire risks from dry conditions and high winds, Erie County Executive Brenton Davis has issued a temporary countywide burn ban, effective November 6, 2024. This 14-day ban is essential to protect our community from the dangers of uncontrolled fires.

Prohibited Activities: Open burning of any kind is prohibited, including garbage, leaves, grass, twigs, and land-clearing debris, whether in burn barrels, fire rings, or on open ground.

Allowed Activities: Campfires are permitted only within designated fire rings at campgrounds, with all flammable materials cleared within a 5-foot radius. Use of gas stoves, propane grills, charcoal grills, and tobacco is allowed.

Enforcement: Violations may result in fines up to $300 for repeated offenses.

This burn ban supersedes any local ordinances and will be enforced by local law enforcement and Pennsylvania State Police. We urge everyone to adhere to these guidelines to ensure the safety of our community.
