Sewer Construction Expected to Cause Delays on Peach Street at I-90
Local traffic should avoid Peach Street during the sewer construction project, if at all possible. Commuters should be prepared for delays in the area and should be wary of lane changes and traffic control while the work is being done. This final phase is expected to begin June 19th and is expected to last until September 19th. The work will only impact traffic on the south bound lanes of Peach Street in the area from Burger King located at 7800 Peach Street to just north of Oliver Road.
This work is part of an ongoing multi-contract capacity upgrade project that was awarded August 26, 2021. The Summit Township Sewer Authority awarded 3 contracts for the Oliver Road Lift Station, Force Main, and Gravity Upsizing Project. It is necessary to upgrade the existing 12” diameter pipe to 16” to provide future capacity for the southwestern portions of Summit Township connected to the system via Oliver Road. The total costs for all three projects are approximately $2,115.000. While the project began in May 2022, the duration of the project has been extended multiple times due to supply chain issues generally associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The contractor, Terra Works, plans to perform the heaviest work at night. While every effort will be made to minimize traffic pattern disruptions, it cannot be avoided with this type of project. Drivers should expect disruptions to normal traffic patterns from 6 PM until 6 AM daily.
