RECYCLING UPDATE
Summit Township received an email notification on Monday, August 15th that Raccoon Refuse has permanently closed. The Township has attempted to find a temporary recycling service to collect our curbside recycling until a contract is rebid. Unfortunately, the businesses that offer these services did not have the manpower or equipment to be able to help us out at this time.
Therefore, for the remainder of 2022, recycling dumpsters have been placed near the glass recycling bins located on Old French Road along the south side of the Township Garage. Starting Monday, August 22nd residents will be able to drop off their accepted recyclable items Monday-Friday between the hours of 7 am-6 pm. The accepted items are listed below, and all items must be loose, no bagged items are allowed. Please make sure that you only put acceptable items in the dumpsters. If unacceptable items or bags are put in the dumpsters or left at the drop site, then the Township will have no choice but to remove the dumpsters and require residents to take their recycling elsewhere.
The Township will be going out to bid for a new contract for 2023 and we will inform residents when curbside pickup will resume. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience.
